Unit Code: PC137-812
Pre or Co-requisites: None
This unit is designed for Christian professionals and leaders who work in people-focussed jobs and who would like to upskill in the areas of mental health and well-being, and do this within the context of their faith. This unit will be taught by CTP team members and affiliated experts.
The unit looks at the reasons for some of the misconceptions of mental health issues in the church and trains people to be more accepting of mental illness as Christians and more compassionate with people suffering from mental illness. It also addresses approaches that correlate sin and mental illness in unhelpful and haphazard ways.
Topics include themes such as, “Sin, personal responsibility, and mental health”, “Cultural impacts upon theologies of mental health”, “The role of the demonic in mental health concerns”, “Theological implications for diagnosis and treatment of mental ill-health”, and “Mental health and the church”.
Unit availabilities are subject to change. Please contact the enrolments team at enrolments@mst.edu.au for further information.
